Dashan (aka Mark Rowswell) has been called “the most famous foreigner in China”, where he has worked as a media personality and cultural ambassador for over 30 years. Through an eclectic career as a comedian and entertainer, award-winning stage actor, television host, educator and narrator, all in fluent Mandarin Chinese, he continues to find new ways to bridge East and West. Most recently, Dashan has played the lead role in a Mandarin language stage adaptation of “The Shawshank Redemption” on tour across China, while producing his own series of innovative narrations of classical Chinese poetry for a global audience.
